Two Bodhidharma Gathas

These are from Dhyana Buddhism in China: Its History and Teaching by Dr. Chou Hsiang-Kuang, they are gathas of Bodhidharmas:

Every night I and Buddha sleep together, and embracing each other,

Every morning get up together;

If you want to know where is Buddha going?

It is this voice of word.

The second gatha is:

"Empty-handed I go, and behold, the spade is in my hand;

I walk on foot, yet on the back of an ox am I riding.

When I pass over the bridge;

Lo, the water floweth not; it is the bridge that floweth."
